Speakers
Sue Carr is founder and principal of renowned Architecture and Interior Design consultancy Carr Design Group. The practice's design work has been recognised with many accolades including Australia's highest honour, Design Practice of the Year in 2007. Sue's landmark projects include the Westin Hotel Melbourne, Norton Rose (Deacons) workplace's around the country and the innovative Intermode Modular Homes. Sue's passion, dedication and commitment to her work and the industry in general continues to grow and was acknowledged with her induction into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame in 2006.
Chris Connell is an internationally renowned, Melbourne based Interior and Furniture designer. His Pepe chair for MAP is in the permanent collection of New York's MOMA and his iconic restaurant designs span the gamut from Caffé e Cucina in 1988 to Bond Street Cafe and Café Vue at Heide in 2009. His residential projects have been widely acclaimed including Brimar Residence, which won a Residential Design Award in the 2010 Interior Design Awards.
Maurice Terzini is one of Australia's most successful and innovative Restaurateurs. Acknowledged with re-introducing Melbourne to Italian food with Caffé e Cucina in 1988 he has gone from strength to strength with Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, and North Bondi Italian Food in Sydney and Il Bacaro, Melbourne Wine Room, and Giuseppe, Arnaldo and Sons in Melbourne. A consummate stylist, his restaurants are as much about the environment as the food.
Oliver Kratzer is the founder and MD of Sydney based Industrial Design consultancy, Ideal Industrial. His design expertise ranges from hammers, truck rear-vision mirrors and mains-voltage safety equipment to sophisticated packaging for consumer brands Fudge, Golden Circle, and Bombay Sapphire. Oliver recently won a prestigious US gold Industrial Design Excellence Award for his work on JLG ProLift, a portable aerial work platform. He sits on the board of the Australian Design Alliance and is currently national President-elect of the Design Institute of Australia.
Soren Luckins is founder and Design Director of Buro North, a multidisciplinary design consultancy, which brings together graphic design, industrial design and wayfinding. Buro North's work has been acknowledged with Advertising and Design Club Awards, AGDA Awards and a Premiers Design Award in 2008. Soren has received the prestigious 'Young Guns' award from the Advertising and Design Club of New York and the practice was included on BRW's Top 100 fastest growing companies in Australia in 2010.
Amanda Henderson is the founder and creative force behind Gloss Creative, a Melbourne based visual house designing in the fields of Mobile Architecture (Marquees), Runways, Set Design and Window installations Her Spring Racing Carnival Marquees include Myer, NAB, Longines and Moet and Chandon. Gloss Creative also collaborated on the recent redesign of Circa, The Prince and the acclaimed Sportsgirl windows at Chadstone and Bourke Street Mall.
