Living font for sale.
Here's a clever idea.
A couple of young German students, Simone Vollenweider and Anna Sartorius, at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig (don't attempt to say that with a mouthful of anything), have created a new font called Cruiser.
That's all well and good, and it looks suitably nice, but what's also interesting is that they've designed it to be publicly auctioned on ebay, and with every bid received, they invite other graphic designers to add another character to the font.
According to the students, they wanted to focus on the feedback between buyer and seller, and by viewing and bidding, the buyers themselves determine the final development of the product.
A further important aspect was the creative exchange between the well-known and lesser-known designers and typeface designers, some of whom are students at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig.
The auction finishes on August 2nd.
